"When I began working with Scott in early 2018 I wasn't in a great place nutritionally. I ate clean foods and ate relatively "well", but I wasn't eating the right amount or the right combination of foods to match the high volume and intensity of training that I needed to support. In addition, I felt dis-enchanted with food and eating in general. I frequently ate the same meals on repeat, and, more often than not, they left me uninspired. From working with a prior nutritionist I had come to concede that as a professional athlete I only used food as fuel and that I wasn't meant to enjoy food or the process of preparing and eating it.
Scott changed all of that. He immediately increased my frequency of meals and the volume I was eating. In re-introduced carbs into my diet in a BIG way. My protein intake was split throughout the day versus backloaded in the evenings. He taught me about timing of meals around training and when to eat more and when to eat less. In addition, he encouraged me to fall in love with cooking and eating again. He supported a diet with diversity - from different meats and types of fish, to a broad range of vegetables and fruits and grains. I went from constantly feeling starving and hungry to feeling satisfied. I went from constantly feeling under-recovered to regularly feeling recovered and having the energy to perform in my sessions. And for the first time in ages I started hitting goal body composition numbers and seeing weight stabilization. Rather than seeing food just as fuel, I saw it as something to enjoy and relish. It was a total switch in mind-set and with it came a shift and improvement in my day-to-day and month-to-month performance. I can't say enough about working with Scott - whether as an elite athlete, weekend warrior or something just looking to improve their health and eating habits - Scott has so much to offer. I cannot recommend him enough."

Scott has helped my athletes and I achieve a new understanding and respect for the importance of fuelling and hydration before, during, and after sport. Personally, my body composition has changed over the few short months I've worked with him and I am confident I can maintain the changes we made for the rest of my life. If you're a serious athlete looking to take your performance to the next level, I highly recommend working with Scott. We look forward to continuing working with him over the coming seasons.
Thank you Scott,

Working with Scott on my race fuelling and daily nutrition has been a game changer for my triathlon performance. In race situations, we have dialed in and practiced a fuelling and hydration plan that keeps me energized throughout the duration of a long course race.
We also resolved some longstanding GI issues that had been costing me many minutes in races (2018 70.3 World's) and leaving me in distress in training and on the race course. Thankfully this is now gone. Outside of the race course, Scott developed a daily nutrition plan that has enabled me to lose weight, in particular losing fat, while retaining muscle mass in a very healthy way and without feeling like I was on a diet. By working with Scott I’ve learned a ton about fuelling my workouts and my races, as well as eating for health on a daily basis by eating a highly varied diet that leaves me energized rather than depleted. I cannot thank him enough.

I have worked with Scott in both the professional and personal environment. Professionally, Scott worked as the Performance Nutritionist for the Toronto Maple Leafs (National Hockey League NHL) organization. While with the Leafs, Scott oversaw every aspect of the athlete’s health and performance from a nutrition, health, supplementation, and hydration perspective. Scott’s depth of knowledge, of not only the technical side of nutrition yet also the practical & psychological factors that affect an athlete’s adherence to their nutrition program or their ability to change their habits made him a highly effective practitioner.
The detail of the nutrition program that Scott implemented was outstanding. Some of the highlights were as follows:
Personally I experienced the effectiveness of Scott’s nutrition guidelines when he introduced a staff fitness challenge. Starting the challenge I weighed in at 207 lbs and almost 30% body fat (DEXA & ISAK skinfolds), which I was shocked to hear! Over the the course of the challenge and in the time since I have dropped to 185 lbs and 13% body fat (DEXA & ISAK skinfolds) by maintaining commitment to the principles that Scott outlined.
My personal experience going through Scotts program is the biggest endorsement I can give him to any individual and/or organization.

Working with Scott has been really rewarding. I have learnt so much about my nutrition, health and body just after a few months. Scott is always there to listen to concerns and has many good hacks and recommendations to help combat or help with those concerns.
I started working with Scott not just to improve my performance, but also because I was having regular stomach issues - something which the NHS was unable or unwilling to help me with. And medical tests uncovered nothing. Scott has helped me sort these issues out with modifications to my daily diet. Scott is a fountain of knowledge on all things nutrition - I would thoroughly recommend working with him.
Thank you Scott!

“Since I started working with Scott, I have had a radical change in my daily training. Not only I felt stronger, but also the recovery periods were much shorter than in the past. I have had a healthy and lean diet my whole life, yet Scotts nutrition plan was a game changer. My overall feeling is great all the time, never hungry anymore as I was in the past. There is no better time to start anything you are thinking of doing than today.”
Thank you,

I first learned about Tinlane and Scott listening to a podcast regarding performance nutrition for triathlon. I was very impressed by how articulate Scott was explaining complex nutritional information. I worked out then that he was someone I could see myself working with. Months later preparing for my first 70.3 I contacted Scott - the knowledge and guidance he provides in his very detailed/personalized nutritional plans are second to none.
We have been working together since August and my performance has improved significantly and so as my physique. But the most important part from the whole process has been practicing and trialing nutrition/hydration during training. Without this I wouldn’t be were I am now... I thank Scott for showing me that we don’t only need to train hard to swim/bike/run at the level we desire but we also need to train our gut to perform at the same level.
Thank you,

After spending around 6 months on a low carb diet to improve my performance I felt something wasn't quite right. I knew that I needed to stop just guessing what I needed after reading a few books and after hearing about Scott from a fellow triathlete decided to jump in and see what I could learn.
I've been really happy with what I've achieved in the last 3 months. Not only do I understand better what to eat and when but also what supplements are worth taking. The plans provide a simple framework that allows you the freedom to eat the foods you enjoy and the recipe books are great for ideas when you want to try something new.
I've seen some great shifts in results with a recent PB at an Olympic triathlon, a couple of podiums and significant improvements in my running times. I've also lost a few kg's in a painless and sustainable way.
If you're willing to put the work in I'd highly recommend giving it a go!
thnak you Scott!

Working with Scott has been both life and body changing. I am so happy to have found him and to be working with him. He streamlines what might otherwise be a daunting and tough process - good nutrition. However, Scott’s accessibility for outreach and his vast knowledge of the topic is incredibly accommodating.
Want to take your fitness and nutrition to the next level? Yes? Lock Scott in.
The results will speak for them self.

I’ve always eaten well and been aware of my nutrition. But when it came to racing and training I’d just wing it and say a prayer. Or I’d do what someone else did or told me to do. As I’ve gotten older and also had a few long Course races where I feel that fuel was the game changer ( cue rolled in a ball in a potty after the race) I knew I needed to find someway to figure it out.
Working with Scott and Jonathan has been a game Changer for me in terms of how i view my fueling. Scott is also excellent in the psychology of fueling. Because we all have habits that need to be changed and that can take time and support. We aren’t racing yet in North America ( well most of us aren’t) but I can tell I recover faster and the intra session fuel has given me some pretty darn good bike and run splits.
I cannot WAIT to see how this impacts my racing experience this summer and going forward! Thanks Scott and Jonathan!

Scott is fantastic to work with. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and just as importantly he designed a program for me that is not only detailed but practical and integrated into my life - taking into account travel , dining out and available foods. Our working together was super successful - his custom designed program allowed me to reduce weight , gain muscle safely and allowed me to perform athletically at the level I wanted to. Lastly, despite the fact that I’m in the states and Scott is in Australia we used technology to communicate effectively and quickly. Can’t recommend Scott enough. He was a game changer for me.

I cannot say enough about Scott and his nutrition coaching. As a female endurance athlete, I was looking for someone who understood gender as it pertains to nutrition, training, and racing. Scott is that person. He tailors my nutrition weekly, and takes in many factors when designing my program. I love how he uses all sorts of metrics- from bloodwork, to race data, to sweat tests. He is responsive and positive. My only wish was that I would get to race in 2020, but that might not happen. In any case, I have big goals for 2021 and he will be there to help me!
thank you so much!!!

I have known Scott for the best part of 14 years, and have worked with Scott for five of those years. Mostly with Oracle Team USA, the high-profile American "America’s Cup Team". My role as Performance Director in professional sporting teams requires me to undertake comprehensive due diligence and profiling, to source the best people – both nationally and internationally, in their respected positions. Scott is one of these people. Scott’s professional skill set is very unique. Combining Sports Medicine - as a world class Physiotherapist, and as a Performance Nutrition for world class sporting teams and athletes. Scott’s implementation & application of knowledge and systems for both of these facets, enabled the team to make huge strides in athlete performance both on and off the water (Americas Cup).
Scott’s personality is 100% team orientated with plenty to offer team dynamics and team culture. Scott has the ability to be both a visionary and see the ‘big picture’ type person, as well as the dedication and drive to pulling his sleeves up and getting the job done. Scott would be an asset to any professional performance team, organization and/or individual. Feel free to contact me with nay questions you may have.

I love Scott! What a delightful, insightful, knowledgeable, patient, kind, and education-focused pro he is. You could think that being a 54 year old grandmother in the states would prove to be too off-base for Scott to deal with...but you’d be incorrect. He incorporates my needs as a slightly older female endurance athlete into my weekly and daily nutritional breakdown. The red-yellow-green light approach to carbohydrates is easy to follow and keeps me well fueled for life and training. I’ve lost a solid 9# in the first 3 months of working together. He is always up for a talk to further help me learn his processes. I look forward to a long relationship with him.

After 11 years of struggling with long course triathlon nutrition Scott systematically identified the problems with testing and helped me nail race nutrition. Scott leveraged technology so that it felt as if he were next door and I always felt connected. We used Virtual Races to validate my nutrition plan. Along the way he also improved my health and nutrition metrics to help me absorb training, recover faster, and most importantly feel better. My only regret is not having found Scott earlier in my triathlon journey.

Cutting an hour of an Ironman - my story
As a pure amateur in the sport of Ironman, with limited time availability and the competing requirement of work and two young children, I had succumbed to the belief that I couldn’t make material gains in my time. I competed in IronMan Vichy in 2018, completing the course in a respectable 10:56, however a mutual friend introduced me to Scott for help.
Fast forward twelve months and after three months working with Scott I put in a 10:02 at Ironman Italy. What’s the big change I hear you ask, fitness? Well I have always been fit. Training? Well, I basically trained the same amount of hours year on year with a 12 week ramp up for both events. However I think the biggest change was nutrition, which allowed me to train harder and recover better while allowing me to drop my weight into the event- while maintaining strength. I entered Ironman Vichy at c82kg in 2018 v Ironman Italy at 77kg in 2019.
The key takeaway for me was that I wasn’t eating enough during my training sessions and I was not taking on sufficient electrolytes which impeded my recover and results. The nutrition up to race day to left me well fuelled and at no point did I hit a wall; while I cut c10min off both the swim and bike, I made huge gains in the run, cutting over 30min off my run time. Largely as I fuelled and hydrated well on the bike which gave me the momentum to crush it.

Nice 70.3 Worlds , France 2019
Scott,
Top shelf | Amazing day. Thank you for the nutritional/hydration guidance over the Nice 70.3 World Championship preparation … based on my Calgary 70.3 experience, my number one focus was to nail my race nutrition targets to execute a run commensurate with my fitness level. Coming off of the best and most challenging 70.3 bike course I have ridden, I looked down at my run pace and saw 6.50s building to my target HR range (150-155) by mile three … as a comparison, I was running 7.30s with a HR pegged at 130-135 at Calgary. I carried the confidence all the way to the finish … again focused on the hydration/nutrition plan throughout. Stoked.
Again … thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!

Swim | no stomach issues during the swim or during pre-race sessions
T1 | ingested 3x blocks and 250mL Precision without issue … need to work on speeding up the process … 5-6min transition not good … need to get back to 3min target
Bike | all good up and over the main climb … nailed my power/intensity targets … 3x blocks every 15mins caught up to me at 1h45m mark with GI distress … need to back way off intensity and let my stomach settle … unfortunately, unable to take advantage of the technical downhill … stomach settled at 2h20m and began 3x block intake again but every 20mins
T2 | ingested 3x blocks and 1 gel without issue
Run | stomach felt rock solid … great energy … good turnover, pace, and intensity … focused on good nutrition intake (walking while taking in first two (2) gels at 30min and 60min mark) … best 70.3 run split off a legitimate bike.
Overall Energy
AMAZING.... thank you so much.
Recovery
My body and mind felt amazing … easy training through the week … all systems good

Today I swam a little over a mile, ran ten, made breakfast/lunch/dinner for myself (nothing fancy but healthy) , worked, got my hair done, reorganized and cleaned my kitchen. A year ago I was doing this same triathlon training and the difference is I would get my workouts done, work and that’s all I had enough energy for. I share this picture from last year because it was two weeks after this 30k trail race when I could barely run two miles and I text my coach @gbarrio “I think I need a nutritionist.” It was a turning point for me. I think being a woman we’re so afraid to eat for fear of gaining weight and also taught to cut calories or try the newest hottest diet. Which I admit, that was me, I’ve tried everything with the exception of keto until this picture, when I started to try and eat for energy and speed gains instead of weight loss.
Originally I found a nutritionist who got me through my last 70.3 race but still found some inconsistencies in my energy and after talking with my coach more about diet and nutrition I knew there had to be a better fit for me. So after doing some research, I finally found Scott and reached out to him. The first week or two I couldn’t believe the difference I felt. I honestly didn’t know people could have this much energy or feel this good just from food. I thought you had to be one of the lucky ones born this way. I had so much energy the first couple of weeks I woke up at 1:00 am one and 3:00 am another night refreshed and ready to start my day. I had to force myself back to sleep and I still woke up feeling good! I also had noticeable differences in my personality (thank you to my clients for always pointing stuff out to me like I was a little blah at their last appointment 😂) Now I barely have a need for my coffee in the morning. My point to sharing this is I hope everyone can find what works for them and to keep trying until you find your own @scottytindal. I swear he’s changing my life one snack at time!
P.S. Everyone has been asking me what the biggest difference is in my diet and I have to say it’s a simple boring answer. I’m eating more and making sure it’s healthy and balanced.
Thanks for all your help! There are no words to express how good I’ve been feeling. I can honestly say this is the best money I’ve ever spent and working with you has def upgraded my life. Two-three years of trying to figure out what would work for me and I feel like I’ve finally found it!
Thank you so much,
Jane

I was very pleased to meet Scott on Instagram after I had heard him on a podcast that changed my life (dramatic sounding but completely true) I had struggled with stomach issues my whole life and the changes Scott spoke of turned things around for me. We started working together as I was preparing for my very first Ironman 70.3 I am new to triathlon and sports, I'm much more of a nerd than an athlete but Scott always made me feel like I was a pro. I found his wisdom indispensable, his approach researched and his delivery kind. I am grateful for our time together and am hopeful of a reunion for the 2021 race season!
Thank you Scott,

I had always been fit, playing competitive sport when I was younger, I still exercised most days and I thought my diet was pretty good but I was starting to age faster than I should. My 50 hour a week job can be stressful, I try to make my kids a priority (at times over exercise) and I like to eat out occasionally but at 38 I was tired, overweight and starting to look genuinely old. After only a couple of sessions with Scott he was able to make some recommendations on my diet and exercise patterns. This was January 2019 and although the suggestions seemed minor to me they were very specific and detailed. I didn’t find it hard to follow his program and the results were staggering. In a bit under two months I had gone from 87 kgs to 80 kgs. I had more energy and was performing better at work. My wife and kids said I was less irritable and more fun at home. I was sleeping better and a doctor who has been a mate of mine for fifteen years said I looked 10 years younger than when he had seen me on Boxing Day. A year later and all the changes have stuck despite a year of increased travel for work. I could not recommend Scott more highly. His knowledge is not only thorough and completely based on science, evidence and experience but his practical application is brilliant for professional athletes, serious amateurs or busy people who juggle everything in their life but know the importance of remaining healthy.
